Director - Sponsorship Strategy

We are currently searching for a Director - Sponsorship Strategy to join our strategy team who will be able to apply their previous experience to have immediate impact; supporting on research, data analysis, reporting, and general consultancy projects in our APAC markets.
Octagon’s strategy team has the privilege of advising some of Asia Pacific’s top brand sponsors on their sponsorship strategy, including portfolio reviews, platform recommendations, campaign measurement and commercial negotiations. They act as an extension of our vast client services teams, planners and creatives, and are as adept at building strong relationships as they are at working independently and confidently on their own projects.
For this position, you would need the ability to uncover and digest huge volumes of data and information to form clear and considered insights, and tell a compelling story based on evidence to form a recommendation. You should be confident in your experience and ability to lead projects independently (with close oversight from our Strategy Director).
This position will provide you with incredible access to many of the biggest and most interesting brands in Australia, APAC and Globally, to help them understand the role that sport and entertainment sponsorships can play in supporting their objectives. You’ll hone the skill of identifying the intent behind a brief and ensuring impact and effectiveness in everything that we do.

WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
- Diving into client projects and new business opportunities, that will require quick uptake of information and understanding about the client’s business and objectives
- Collecting and extracting data and research to develop insights and recommendations
- Supporting with the development of presentations to help clients and colleagues understand and embrace the strategies
- Conducting and leading strategic consultation assignments
- Review, evaluate and negotiate basic contracts with vendors, properties etc
- Collaborate actively with creative, planning and account teams to deliver insight driven strategy
- Supporting the management of commercial strategy and planning projects from pitch through delivery and implementation
- Management of direct reports within the APAC strategy team
WHAT ELSE DO YOU NEED
- 6-8 + years’ experience in either a marketing or research agency with at least 1-2 of those in a similar role
- Experience in the sports or entertainment industry, with exposure to commercial partnerships
- Impeccable attention to detail and organisational skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Presentation building skills
- The ability to think creatively and conceptually
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Research and data analytics experience
