About the Trainee Program

The Legal Department’s Summer Trainee Program is an excellent opportunity for a rising second or third year law student who is passionate, engaged, and committed to a career in sports law. Throughout the program, our attorneys will provide you with hands-on experience in all facets of the legal department’s work, including, contract drafting/reviewing for Octagon clients across all sports, legal research regarding any number of sports-law related issues, including NCAA compliance for Octagon-employed agents, unique labor and employment issues facing the sports law industry, and various litigation related matters. Throughout the course of the program, you will be supervised by experienced attorneys and participate in a variety of challenging and interesting projects.

The position will be virtual, and therefore, the individual can be located anywhere in the United States. The Trainee position is a paid twelve-week full-time position in the summer (approximately end of May through end of August, subject to school schedules).

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Current, enrolled, law school student
  • Good attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and online meeting tools
  • Excellent proof-reading skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • Ability to work in a-fast paced corporate environment individually and with others
  • Experience in the sports business is a plus
